Poetry reading and Conversation
The nuances of migration, the emotional landscapes shaped by nomadism, and the interplay between personal, and collective histories in relation to Cuba as a place and idea.
Marelys Valencia was born in 1970 in Matanzas, Cuba. She has a doctorate in Latin American literature and culture. Her first volume of poetry, Piélago de sombras, was a finalist for the Valparaiso Editions First International Poetry Prize ‘Poet in New York’. She lives in the United States and is a professor at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame.
The reading and conversation will be held in Spanish and English.

Los matices de la migración, los paisajes emocionales moldeados por el nomadismo y la interacción entre las historias personales y colectivas en relación con Cuba como lugar e idea.
Marelys Valencia nació en 1970 en Matanzas, Cuba. Es doctora en Literatura y Cultura Latinoamericanas. Su primer poemario, Piélago de sombras, fue finalista del Primer Premio Internacional de Poesía «Poeta en Nueva York», de Ediciones Valparaíso. Vive en Estados Unidos y es profesora en el Saint Mary’s College de Notre Dame.
La lectura y la conversación tendrán lugar en español e inglés.
